Website Maintenance

Website maintenance is a general term for a variety of jobs that are necessary to keep your site working and updated. We provide maintenance for sites we build for an additional fee, and we also provide maintenance for sites that are already up and running. Many cutomers find that using our services to maintain their company's site is easier and cheaper than having someone on their staff to do the job.

Website maintenance falls into three general areas:

  • Adding content
  • Keeping the HTML and other site code working
  • Server monitoring

Every business needs to add and change content in order to keep its site fresh. One way to do this might be to change the look or layout of the site, add or change colors, and add or change images. Some content by nature has to change regularly, such as sale information, prices, etc. You might also add or remove items from your inventory and need to reflect that on your site.

Keeping your code working is in large part about making sure that all your links still work and still go where they are intended. Particularly with the speed at which pages change these days, it is very easy to end up with broken links. They are a quick way to get a surfer to go elsewhere.

Another type of maintenance we perform is to make sure that images load correctly and quickly. We will make sure that all your images exist, and we will optimize them to minimize load times.

Along the same lines, we will check your code to be sure that it is as streamlined as possible.

Yet another concern for website owners is cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility. Even the best web programmers do not always have time to check that pages work perfectly on every browser and platform. Similarly, some sites look better at a certain display size or resolution. We will keep your site working as well as possible for everyone on the web, regardless of the hardware that brings them to your site.

If you have server-side programming, especially in the form of e-commerce, it is important that you regularly check your coding to make sure it is secure and up to date. There are people out there who are always looking for ways to break into sites, and it is our job to keep them out.

Finally, we will monitor your site's server to make sure it stays up and running. We will inform you when there is a problem by the means of your choosing, including pager, cell phone, and email. You cannot afford downtime. We will keep you up and running.

Everyone wants a site that works and looks good. We will help you make that happen.
