Marketing

Search engine submission is the first form of marketing your site, but it is only one of many ways to get people to visit your web site. Marketing could be something as simple as including your web address (URL) on the bottom of an advertising flyer or business card. The methods are really as diverse as your and our imaginations. Listed below are just a few ideas. When you contact us with a request for a price quote or more information, please include any special marketing requirements or ideas you might have.

Once a new site is up and running, we will issue a press release to major media such as newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, Internet news outlets and journalists announcing the new site, its URL, what its purpose is, etc.

A more expensive marketing method is banner ads on other web sites. The bigger the other site, the more likely you will be to get hits, but the big sites also charge more for the service.

Another method is direct email. This has positive and negative aspects, since this might fall under the dreaded category of "spam," but this does not have to mean spam. You might have a mailing list on your site that provides a service, such as announcing sales. This is a good way to get users' email addresses as well as a way to get return visitors. Visitors might also sign their friends up for your list, thereby increasing your customer base.

Another controversial way that some people use to try to get web traffic is to post information about their site to newsgroups on related topics. Since most newsgroups are non-commercial, however, one must be careful to do this in such a way as not to get banned from the newsgroup. This is not a method we recommend.

Another free technique is to get other sites to link to yours. This might be something as formal as a web ring, in which various sites on the same subject all link to one another, but it might be as simple as you putting a link to your friend's site on your site and vice versa.

A technique that is tried more commonly by older sites trying to create new business is to have some sort of event, such as a contest or game. Sweepstakes, for example, are easy to set up and can give good results.

Last but not least, if you have a bricks and mortar business, you will want to integrate your conventional marketing with the marketing for your web site. Put your web address anywhere you would put your physical address and phone number. The yellow pages, television, newspaper, and radio ads, and brochures are just a few places you might try.

Once your web site marketing campaign is in full swing, you will want to measure your results. We will track your web traffic to determine the identity of your visitors and where they are coming from. This will help us help you make the best use of your Internet marketing budget.
