1. May I build my own site?
We encourage our customers to take as active a role in building their site as they wish. We will work in an advisory capacity if you wish to build your own site. We hope that sites are as standards-compliant as possible so that our web designers can maintain your pages as needed. Please contact us for more information.
2. May I edit my own site?
If you are a turnkey customer, you may do anything you want with your site once it has gone live and we have handed it over to you. For our customers to whom we provide hosting and maintenance, we would encourage you to contact us before you make any significant changes to your site, and to use a commercial HTML editor for any changes you decide to make.
3. How do I combat spam spiders?
Spam spiders are programs that automatically surf the web looking for email addresses on web pages in the form of ‘name@domain.’ Once these spiders find email addresses, they add them to spam mailing lists. We will use JavaScript and other techniques to mask the email addresses on your site.
4. Do you build blogs?
Blogs are easy to set up and use. We provide our customers a basic blog template, or we will work with you to build a custom blog.
5. How do I set up a forum?
We provide a template for our users to set up a forum or bulletin board on their site.
6. Do you provide counters?
We can provide you with a variety of different counters to place on your pages. We do find that many web sites are preferring to keep their traffic information private, however.
7. How do I get my web statistics?
Full web statistics are available online for all of our customers. Information includes referring URLs, total number of hits, graphs on when the site is the busiest, etc. We can also provide reports via email at periodic intervals of your choosing.
8. How do I get listed on search engines?
We submit all of our customers’ web sites to all the major search engines as well as many smaller sites.
9. Do you put advertising on your sites?
We do not include any advertising on any sites we build. However, we will provide you the scripts necessary to include advertising on your site if you wish to solicit it on your own.
10. How do I set up a guest book?
We have a guest book template available for those businesses that are interested in soliciting feedback from their customers without the hassle and potential expense of setting up a forum. Guest books are much easier to set up and maintain.
11. May I use scripts on my site?
Turnkey customers are welcome to do what they wish on their sites. For our hosting and maintenance customers, we require that you submit scripts for validation to your project manager for approval before going live with them. Scripts are potentially malicious and powerful in the wrong hands.
12. What is Error 404?
‘Error 404′ is a message that the page the web client was trying to reach does not exist on the server. This is the dreaded ‘broken link.’ We strive not to have any broken links on the sites we build, and using our maintenance services will prevent broken links on sites you build as well.
